Old as the Hills

"As Old as the Hills"

This picture tells a dreamtime story that Warren remembers from his childhood.

The Seven Sisters exploded and there was bugger-all food in the country. At the time of the explosions it was the season the scrub turkey (munggarra) laid their eggs (bambu). The carpet snake (garpu) found the bambu and started to eat them. But the goanna (bajiri) also smelt the bambu and fought the garpu for them.

It was a time of starvation for the animals and the people when the Seven Sisters exploded and all living things were fighting for food.
