Note added January 2008:

With the passing of Margi (back) and the last of the senior Ngadjonji elders directly involved, Emma Johnston (right) and Jessie Calico (front), content is no longer being added to this site at present.
The last addition (November 2004) was a report of Margi and the Elders receiving a posthumous Reconciliation Award from Queensland Premier Peter Beattie.
Much of importance has happened since then - most notably the Ngadjonji Native Title Determination.
It was the wish of Margi and the Elders that this record of the historical and cultural materials that they had collected should continue to be available as an educational resource, especially for the young people, indigenous and others, of the Atherton Tableland.
The site's ongoing presence on the internet has the approval and support of the next generation of Ngadjonji Elders.

The Elders of the Ngadjonji wish to thank the following people and organisations:

The late Malanbarra-Yidinji elder George Davis , for help and guidance in all the work we have done.
Helen Pedley and the Aboriginal People of Jumbun for the inspiration of their wonderful books Aboriginal Life in the Rainforest and Aboriginal Tools of the Rainforest .
Tony Irvine for his instruction and generous sharing of extensive knowledge of the Ngadjonji culture and language.
William and Wendy Cooper for their permission to use the beautiful illustrations from the books Fruits of the Rainforest and Visions of the Rainforest , that grace our Forest Resources pages.
All the people who have given us permission to use photographs and artefacts from their collections, including Eacham Historical Society , Cairns Historical Society , I.A.T.S.I.S. , Tony Irvine (again), George Davis , Kevin Mackay and A. Nye . Apologies to anyone we have missed.
Arts Queensland for helpful funding.
